For Those Who Do Affirmations
You know they are simple, powerfully effective tools for changing your life. (For those of you who don't use them now, see the addendum at bottom for the essentials of affirmations.)
In the course of being certified as a NLP Master Practitioner, I recently learned a GREAT tool for helping "install" an affirmation in your neurology (I learned it from the NLP trainer, Suzi Smith, who credits someone else, whose name I have unfortunately lost). I trust this process because I both experienced "before" and "after" kinesiological testing myself and saw others do the same, and the results were dramatic. Everyone I saw accepted much more completely the reality of his/her affirmation.
It's a really simple procedure (much simpler than it reads). The whole thing is to be done standing up, keeping your torso still. Here it is:
1) Straighten your right arm out in front of you, with your thumb up, and your fingers curled (the "thumbs up" position) so that your hand is in front of your midline. While saying your affirmation out loud, describe an infinity sign (the long axis is horizontal) in the air with the right hand. Repeat this twice more, for a total of 3 repetitions of the infinity sign and affirmation.
2) Repeat this 3 more times, but saying the affirmation silently instead of out loud.
3) Repeat step 1, but with the left arm outstretched, and the left hand in the "thumbs up" position, instead of the right.
4) Repeat step 3, but saying the affirmation silently instead of out loud.
5) Stretch both arms out in front of you, with the palms together, the fingers interlaced and both thumbs up. Describe an infinity symbol in the air with your joined hands, saying your affirmation out loud while you do. Repeat this two more times, for a total of 3 repetitions.
6) Repeat step 5, but saying your affirmation silently instead of out loud. Unclasp your hands and let them drop to your sides.
7) Now, use your thumbs and forefingers (right hand on right ear and left hand on left ear) to "unroll" or massage the rims of your ears, front/top to bottom, saying your affirmation out loud as you do. Repeat this 2 more times, for a total of 3.
8) Repeat step 7, but saying your affirmation silently instead of out loud. let your hands drop to your sides.
9) Standing straight, bring your right elbow down to meet your raised left knee, straighten up, and then bring your left elbow down to meet your raised right knee. This is one "cross crawl". While doing this, say your affirmation out loud. Repeat this 2 times, for a total of 3 repetitions.
10) Repeat step 9, but saying your affirmation silently.
11) Cross your right foot over your left, with both legs touching as much as possible. With your arms down, cross your right arm over your left, so that your palms are touching. Interlace your fingers. Bring your palms toward you and up, rotating the clasped hands in towards your chest, so they are against your chest, under your chin. Hold this integrative position for 3 deep breaths.
That's it! In sum:
1) infinity sign right out loud 3x
2) infinity sign right silently 3x
3) infinity sign left out loud 3x
4) infinity sign left silently 3x
5) infinity sign both out loud 3x
6) infinity sign both silently 3x
7) unroll ears both out loud 3x
8) unroll ears both silently 3x
9) cross crawl both out loud 3x
10) cross crawl both silently 3x
11) integration position
