Ask Specifically And Ye Shall Receive, Part 1

Those of you who know me know that I recommend affirming (or praying for) what you want with great specificity. What I have also learned recently is that when you ask for help from your guides/angels, it helps to *call them by name*. This great example actually happened:

Last Saturday morning, I attended a class taught by Michael Murphy, the founder of Esalen and a meditator for 50 years. Michael mentioned that he believes that meditating 6 times a day for 10 minutes will help one to reap the health and psychological benefits of meditation more than meditating once a day for 60 minutes.

After class, many of us adjourned to the Depot, a crowded, noisy outdoor cafe. I told my friend, Robert, how grateful I am that my work requires me to check in with my guides and meditate several times a day. He said, "I wish I had as clear access to my guides as you do."

I told him, "You can have it. Everyone can. It helps to ask for them by name. If you yell, "I need help" on a crowded plaza, no one will turn around. But if you yell, "Barry, I need help", Barry will turn around." (Barry was sitting across a large table from us, deeply engrossed in another conversation and oblivious to ours.)

Robert said, "Well, how do I know who my guides are?"

"It doesn't matter", I said, "just asking for anyone by name will bring them to you."

"I like Michael [the Archangel]", said Robert.

"Okay, call Michael."

"Michael, I need help!" called Robert, looking up at the sky and laughing.

"Great!", I smiled.

"How would I use my guides to help me find something I lost? I left a videotape in the church [where the class was held], and no one can find it," said Robert.

"Ask Michael to bring back your videotape," I said.

"Michael, please bring me back my videotape!" implored Robert again to the sky, laughing as though it were a joke.

Barely missing a beat, Barry took a videotape from Aline, to whom he'd been talking, looked over at us, and said, "Robert, here's the videotape you left in the church." Wow!

So, ask specifically for what you want; call specifically for help, and see how fast your prayers are answered!

In love and light,

Hollis
